It's truer than people think. I lived in Ireland for more than 15 years and this 80 kilometers per hour (about 50 mph) sign is posted on most rural roads (outside of cities). Both paved and dirt get the 80kph. The real trouble is the local usually hit 100 KPH on roads much like the one pictured.
