It's Been A Long Week

A very fucked up, long week.
It started out ugly and went downhill on a rocket sled after that.
One thing after another at work beginning with a spur of the moment bad decision to tear down and rebuild in place a piece of equipment that at best, takes a week except this time a certain ignorant fuck who will remain nameless, convinced himself that we have done it in the past in two days.

A fantastically tragic error on his part.

I asked him after three days of setbacks and his bitching and pressuring everyone if that magically happened while I was on vacation at some point because as far as I can remember, I have been in on every one of these fucked up messes and every fucking time it has taken a week, without fail.
Those were the ones that went right.

 This one didn't went right.

As a matter of fact, it's still not done and even if they get all the parts they have on hand installed, it won't GET done until Monday at the earliest because in their rush to prove they can perform miracles, they neglected to make sure we had all the necessary parts on hand.

To top this all off, when we tore it down, we found extreme damage to the underlying metal can that all these parts attach to.
Extreme damage that anyone in their right mind would fix before throwing thousands of dollars and hundreds of man hours at.

But no.

So while the whole project turned into a giant clusterfuck of epic proportions, there is still the matter of everyday shit that breaks down and needs to be maintained.
Then we had a wind storm blow through. That produced a brief flickering of the lights night before last.
When I saw the lights flicker, I swore under my breath because as sure as the Sun rises in the East, it caused a power surge.

Really, really bad things happen where I work when we get either power surges or the electricity goes out, even momentarily.

They use enough electricity in that place to power a small city, I kid you not.

They even have their own substation across the street.
Everything is computer controlled. Computers do not like any deviation in the amount of electricity they need to operate.

Cooling pumps quit. Fans quit. Processors quit, compressors quit.
Machines quit right in the middle of critical operations.
The backup generator never came on because we did not lose power, we got too much.

We spent hours trying to figure out what powered up what and looking for tripped breakers, resetting processors and all kinds of fun.
One,motherfucking thing, after another and another and another.

My whole week was like that.

This is why it has been so quiet here on the blog.

Just for fun, I have been dealing with all this while short on sleep too.

It may be a day or two before things get back to what I call normal so bear with me and I thank you for your stopping by even when there wasn't anything new.

Now you know why.
