It Shouldn't BE Normal, That's The Fucking Problem

Went with The Wife and one of her sisters to the Mall tonight to watch the new Hobbit movie.
Great movie in 3D, awesome visual effects, yadda yadda yadda.
Whilst circling the parking lot, during Christmas season no less, what do I see but one of these.

Right in the middle of the parking lot.

Pissed me off, of course.

I started bitching about living in a police state when my wife pipes up in a condescending tone and says, "it's just normal".

THAT pissed me off even more!
I told her, that's the fucking problem, it shouldn't BE normal!
It's like living in a fucking prison yard!
That is exactly how I felt too.
Like I was walking across a prison yard full of parked cars.

Bullshit.

Then her sister pipes up with the old, "well what if a guy in a hockey mask carrying a gun is walking around?"

A true face palm moment.

There it is, conditioned to believe elevated armed police posts in public are "normal".

Not where I come from sister.

That's pretty much it for me.
I have been putting it off but if it's to the point I see armed police guard posts in the fucking parking lots around here, I'm gettin' a concealed carry permit or finding out why not.

This supposed to be a "Shall Issue" state.
I am going to find out.

Since when the fuck has this been going on? I've never seen one of these in my life, and I can't imagine what purpose--besides yet more statist evil--they could serve.

I'm just dumbfounded. When did you move out of America? 'Cause what I'm looking at, ain't it.

Tend to agree with Wraith - not here in Cleveland yet but I have no doubt they would be mandated if Cleveland could make a buck-or-two off of them...Which mall?

Vancouver WA, across the Columbia River from Portland ORE.

This is not that big of a city and there is no way they should be able to justify that kind of financial expenditure.

G'day Mr Curmudgeon,

Why on earth would it be considered a good use of police resources to have someone in that tower all day playing games on his mobile phone! What's he going to do if he sees a crime taking place, stick his pistol out the window and take a few pot shots? I spent 5 weeks in your great country back in '95 travelled 2,500 miles and hardly ever saw a cop, now from the blogs and news I read the US looks like it is well on the way to "1984".

I pray that you can turn things around in time.

G'day yerself and thanks for stopping by.

Unfortunately I believe there is going to be a bit of a nasty fight to get this turned back around, they have gotten too big for their britches.

Should be good for something to watch on the telly, we are calling it The Freedom Games.
