I wanted to comment on your gardeniing thread but it wouldn’t allow anonymous comments. MOST important first step is actually protecting garden from predators. Watched a you tube on bending electrical conduit to make hoops. Took two ten foot conduits to make archway and then made three more for a ten foot wide by twenty plot. Put wire fencing over the hoops and one end. Made a door in other end. So far, two months — nothing has breeched the structure. Currently have tomatoes, cabbage, radishes and corn, so growing inside. Outside is lined with buckets and tubs (which are sitting on netting to protect against burrowing and in them I am growing potatoes and onions. Will add peppers to the perimeter as well. Those crops have never been pirated. It is pretty inexpensive and is working so well. Every year would be so frustrating to lose crops a week before they were ready to harvest from squirrels, raccoons, etc. good luck to everyone — this is going to get ugly. Chickens and quail are super easy too.
