Look at those gas prices. We won't see those in our lifetimes again

I remember those prices and they considered that expensive.

$0.28 was close to 3 x silver dimes, or about $4.80 today.
In other words, our "money" has lost ~94% of its purchasing power.
Everybody hates 'the gold standard', but it existed for a reason.

We'll see those prices again, but it will be dollars per gallon, not cents
