As a teen in high school i drove a 49 Dodge pu flathead six 4 speed no synchronizers .Was a hand full an a half top speed 45.
Parts were cheep .buddys dad had 49 duel carbs flathead 6 3speed fluid drive trans you could put in gear an let foot off clutch .good times .🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

For a long time I wanted to get a truck of some sort as old as I am (1953). I suspect I should have moved on that 20 years ago when they were cheaper and I had a lot move energy...

In 1979 I took my test with my Dad's 1947 Dodge PU 3/4 ton. They scrutinized his truck
and everything was in order! I passed. Learned to drive on that old truck, three speed on the floor. Push start, choke, split window moved out..wishe I had that truck today

I Have a buddy that took a 53 Carryall where he took the second door out and shortened the cab to mount on 91 duelly 3/4 ton extended cab frame. The body also had to be cut in half and widened. He worked on this project for 5 years. He re-built or replaced everything on the Cummins diesel and installed all of the creature comforts off the 91 cab. He went over the top with overstuffed leather seats, dash, and headliner. The suspension had been modified with air bags to clear the 38" tires for off-road and it could also sit down with a half inch clearance on the fenders. The bed was all custom as well as the running board from the front fender to a fabbed up rear fender. I helped him with the wiring and electronics. He finished it a couple of months before his company transferred him to Oklahoma last year.
