I'll go ya one better.
My definition of a pickup truck is something you can take a fucking garden hose to on the INSIDE of the cab at the end of the day.


Sissy fuckin' things they got out these days that cost as much as a house did back in the 60's and don't do a fucking thing any better now than they did then.

No thanks.

Yeah, metal head liner, bench seat, vent windows (the little triangular dudes that swiveled out like pictured above) - just keep it simple. The sound of those door closing went BANG, not clickity click click.

Yup. Mine is an '89 Dodge LE 250 4x4 with Cummins.

All steel, no plastic, no electronic gadgetry with the motor.

Oh yeah, less than 150,000 miles.

My 'real' pickup was not that old (pre-70's). Just a plain Dodge '76 Adventurer, power nothing, acres of room to work under the hood on a 318 c.i. engine that parts could be obtained nearly anywhere. Long 8' bed - you steered / pointed it, not drove it and it drove very smoothly. I loved that muthereffer.

Had to sell it when our 1st kid was due. No A/C and even with a bench seat, a baby carrier was out of the question. I was crying inside when the sale went through. I couldn't afford two trucks (still can't) and don't have the room for it. Wish I did. RIP Dodge, you gave me some good times.

72 F100 Ranger, 351W (transplant) w/ T5 tranny going to a 9" locker 3.70. It was a farm tuck we had with over 200K on the original drive-train and it threw a rod and was parked behind the barn in the mid 80's. I pulled it into the barn in the early 90's when I had obtained a rebuilt 351w (out of a T-bird) and a T5 (out of a Mustang GT). I got it running and blew up the rear end a month latter. Found/rebuilt a 9" with a locker 3:70 rear that I put in. The body/interior got refreshed in 95.

It has about 325 HP and gets 16/17 mpg just knocking around but it gets 22mpg on the highway. It has power-nothing, no AC, just a functional full gauge set and after-market rear sliding glass window and radio.

I live in Alberta and the new trucks are crazy expensive. I would never buy a new one because with so much money invested in it I would hesitate to drive it anywhere.
